Alaska Building Maintenance Group Health & Safety Policy

Alaska Building Maintenance Group is committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment for its workers and preventing occupational illness and injury. To express that commitment, we issue the following policy on occupational health and safety.

We will make every effort to provide a healthy and safe work environment. We are dedicated to the objective of eliminating the possibility of injury and illness by identifying, assessing, facilitating, and reviewing the provision of resources, direction, and structured operational activities.

As a diverse and multi-tiered organisation, we see health and safety at work, and in the conduct of services, both as an individual and a shared responsibility of all involved. Our Management team will be trained and held responsible for ensuring that the workers, under their supervision, follow this policy and are accountable for ensuring that workers use safe work practices and receive training to protect their health and safety. Our management will develop, implement, review and resource sound health and safety management frameworks and it is the responsibility of all Our employees to observe Our processes and practises and provide proactive input to the on-going improvement of systems.

We encourage all Our employees to undertake hazard identification and risk assessment of all elements of the operational environment and work in collaboration with the client and any relevant stakeholders to implement control processes that achieve established objectives and facilitate continual improvement in the elimination or mitigation of the risks at hand.

We acknowledge and understand relevant legislation, acts, and codes to which we are required to achieve compliance within the workplace, which include:

  • OSHA Workplace Health and Safety ACT and Regulations
  • ISO 45001:20018 Occupational health and safety management systems
  • Any other applicable Acts or changes therein.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of our quality system against measurable objectives to enable continuous improvement and sound assessment of business performance

To facilitate the achievement of this policy, our management team will make every reasonable effort in the areas of accident prevention; hazard control and elimination; injury protection; health preservation (including the promotion of workplace health and safety initiatives); and staff training. These will be given top priority in the organisations plans, procedures, and work instructions. Of greatest value we will involve input from all employees and relevant third parties to ensure a practical, cohesive, and ownership-based approach to health and safety in the work environment.
